Esoteric electrics, handmade in the outer boroughs.

Guitars with an axe to grind.

You know the drill. Everyone loves a classic, but we’ve all been looking at the same electric guitars for the last 80 years. And with digital music production taking over and rock ‘n roll falling out of popular favor, the electric guitar’s status as a symbol of rebellion and individuality could use a little reinvigoration.

Founded in 2023, D’Amelio Axe Works aims to produce top-notch handmade instruments with inspiring shapes and stories to help bring your music to life. Familiar but surprising, with just the right amount of edge, these axes are here to make a statement or two.

So buckle up and pop in those monitors. Things are about to get loud.

The story so far.

At the height of the Great Resignation in 2022, I left a toxic job to pursue a craft that lives at the nexus of many of my passions.

Years spent fiddling with the woodwork and circuitry of arcade controllers, plus rediscovering my love of playing instruments after finding an abandoned acoustic in the trash room of my apartment building, led to the realization of “hey - maybe I should be building guitars”.

In March 2023, I took a trip across the country to sunny Portland, Oregon and took an intensive electric guitar building class at the American School of Lutherie. There, I learned everything I needed to design and build precision handmade instruments.

Since then, you can catch me hauling tools, materials, and guitars on the F train, splitting my work between a Brooklyn makerspace and my Queens apartment. With a few core designs locked in and a handful of completed builds under my belt, it’s been a wild ride, but we’re just getting started.
